Although it had been announced that, due to the mandated COVID restrictions, this edition would see its number of participants reduced to 50 percent, Karla Luna Rodríguez, President of the tournament organizing committee, said in an interview with Radio Formula that they are hoping for participation of 50 boats and around 200 fisherwomen.

It was announced that participants from various municipalities of Quintana Roo, from other states in Mexico and even from abroad have already registered for this sporting event. She did not specify how many registrations they have to date for the 2021 edition of the event.

“It is not only about a day of fishing with friends, but about showing that we are capable of doing it, and we do it very well,” said Karla Luna Rodríguez. The tournament, she said, will proceed as usual this year, with the regrettable exception of the Captains’ Dinner.
