Puerto Morelos, Mexico — Puerto Morelos Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly opened restaurant "Charly Chicken," located on Chacá Street between 54th and 56th in the municipal seat. The event underscored the administration's support for the growth of local businesses in the area.
A Vote of Confidence in Puerto Morelos' Economy
Mayor Tziu Muñoz emphasized that the opening of "Charly Chicken" reflects investor confidence in Puerto Morelos as a thriving tourist destination. The restaurant is owned by Carlos Gómez, a longtime resident with over a decade of ties to the community.
"From the municipal administration, we encourage the emergence of new businesses by facilitating opportunities for entrepreneurs who contribute to our economic growth," the mayor stated. "This includes supporting those already established in Puerto Morelos, like Carlos Gómez and his family, who now bring this new restaurant to delight our community’s palates."
A New Dining Concept for the Community
During the event, Mayor Tziu Muñoz toured the spacious restaurant, noting its comfortable seating and fully equipped kitchen, which adheres to safety protocols. Gómez, who also owns the restaurant "La Cabaña," described "Charly Chicken" as a new culinary concept specializing in chicken dishes prepared in various styles to cater to diverse tastes.
The venture is a partnership between Gómez, Rafael Rosales, and Raúl Hernández Gómez. Gómez highlighted that the restaurant will create employment opportunities for local residents, further boosting the area’s economy.
Encouraging Local Consumption
Mayor Tziu Muñoz urged Puerto Morelos residents to prioritize supporting local businesses. She noted that the municipality’s culinary offerings are expanding beyond the tourist zone, with the Joaquín Zetina area now featuring a wide variety of dining options.
"This reflects our economic growth and development, bringing prosperity to more families in Puerto Morelos," she added.
The inauguration of "Charly Chicken" marks another step in the municipality’s efforts to foster entrepreneurship and diversify its dining scene.
