Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — Puerto Morelos launched a new local market program aimed at strengthening the community economy and creating opportunities for municipal producers.

Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz led the opening of the Nuestra Cosecha market at the Zetina Gasca neighborhood sports dome, accompanied by economic officials.

Fifteen producers from the Leona Vicario delegation participated in the first session, along with local artisans offering regionally made goods.

Market Strengthens Community Economy

The Nuestra Cosecha market creates a permanent space for direct farm-to-consumer sales, eliminates middlemen, and promotes a fair trade model.

During the inaugural tour, Mayor Tziu Muñoz highlighted that the program incentivizes local production and strengthens family economies through direct marketing channels.

She also emphasized that the initiative positions regional products in new markets, giving greater visibility to the talent and work of producer families.

Strategic Links with Hotel Sector

Economic Development Secretary Elena Gutiérrez Briceño explained that officials are building connections with hotels and restaurants in the region.

The goal is to integrate local products into tourist supply chains, allowing producers to expand their customer base.

Representing the business sector, Hotel Marina El Cid Purchasing Manager Fátima Blanco attended and announced plans to evaluate products through tastings.

Diverse Products and Regional Value

Participants offered tomatoes, papaya, lemon, radish, squash, and habanero peppers, along with spices, seasoning pastes, and honey and coconut derivatives.

They also displayed ointments, natural essences, and ornamental plants. This variety strengthens productive identity and expands options for local consumers.

Mayor Tziu Muñoz reaffirmed the commitment to consolidate a sustainable development model, with the government promoting social economy and responsible local consumption.
