Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — Police intercepted an ADO bus on a highway bypass in a dramatic operation that led to the arrest of two men suspected of killing a state police officer from the “Jaguar” group earlier this week.
Officers surrounded the bus on the bypass leading to Tulum, forcing traffic to stop temporarily as they removed the suspects under strict control measures. Passengers and motorists watched the scene unfold.
Preliminary information indicates the detainees are key suspects in the investigation of the officer’s killing, which occurred days ago on the Tepich–San Ramón highway stretch. Unofficial reports suggest surveillance cameras and data analysis helped track the suspects as they attempted to leave the area by public transport.
The operation caused alarm among bus passengers, but police acted directly on the specific targets without any shots fired or injuries reported during the arrest. After being secured, the two individuals were placed in official vehicles and transported under heavy convoy to the state capital, Chetumal.
The State Prosecutor’s Office has not yet issued an official statement detailing the detainees’ identities or specific charges they will face, as their legal status will be determined before a judge in the coming hours.
