Police Arrest ‘El Gringo de la 95’ After Second Attempted Motorcycle Theft in Cancún

Police arresting a suspect known as 'El Gringo de la 95' in Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Police arrested a man known as “El Gringo de la 95” on Sunday after catching him red-handed trying to steal a motorcycle from a Suzuki dealership in Cancún’s Supermanzana 25 district.

Security footage shared on social media shows the suspect breaking the dealership’s front door glass and removing a motorcycle, triggering the business alarm before he fled with the vehicle.

Officers on patrol intercepted the man after receiving alerts about the incident, preventing him from completing the theft. They then turned him over to the State Prosecutor’s Office.

Repeat Offender

The arrest marks the second time this week authorities have caught the same individual attempting to steal motorcycles. Last Tuesday, he tried to take a motorcycle from an Italika dealership in Supermanzana 63, where witnesses captured him breaking windows with a metal pipe.

Despite being caught in the act during that incident, he was released hours later because the affected business did not file a formal complaint.

Authorities Urge Victims to File Complaints

Municipal authorities are now urgently calling on the legal representatives of the affected Suzuki dealership to file a formal complaint to ensure prosecutors can keep the suspect in custody.

Without charges, officials warn the man could be released again and continue targeting local businesses.
