Playa del Carmen, QRoo — Playa del Carmen will have the largest ice rink in the state, announced municipal president Estefanía Mercado during the presentation of the Magical Christmas 2025 program, held this Wednesday in a press conference. The Magical Christmas will be accompanied by an extensive security operation in coordination with the three levels of government.

“Starting December 12, we will open the largest ice rink in all of Quintana Roo. Also, Plaza 28 de Julio will be a free space where our girls, boys, youth, and families can experience Christmas in a unique way,” said the mayor.

On December 5 at 7 p.m., the Christmas tree lighting will take place at Plaza 28 de Julio, an event to which all families in the municipality are invited and where it is expected that young and old will enjoy the December festivities. Currently, installation work for the Christmas decorations is being carried out at the plaza, including the assembly of the tree and the rink, as well as all the details of the Christmas village.

On December 21 at 7 p.m., the Christmas parade will take place along Quinta Avenida, an emblematic event that will bring joy, color, and music for everyone. And on December 31, there will be an event to welcome the new year at Parque Fundadores, which will be a neon-themed party with more than four DJs, in a family-friendly and safe environment; it will start at 9 p.m.

These activities, the president said, not only celebrate Christmas but also stimulate economic activity, benefiting small hoteliers, local commerce, and local artisans. The projected hotel occupancy for the Christmas season exceeds 80%. “It is great news for everyone because it means employment, economic movement, and well-being for our families,” she stated.

Ernesto Martínez, head of the Institute for Culture and Arts of Solidaridad, reported that the Magical Christmas lineup includes completely free activities to be held from December 5 to 28 at Plaza 28 de Julio, in which more than 580 professional artists will participate, including dancers, musicians, and actors. The complete lineup will be available on the Facebook page @InstCulturaPlaya.

To all these activities is added the Magical Quinta, a program to beautify the city’s main tourist artery from December 15 to January 15, commented the municipal secretary of Tourism, Estefanía Hernández, who added that each weekend they will hold special activities, which can be consulted on the portal https://www.letsplaya.mx/es_mx.
