Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Internal Control Body (OIC) of Playa del Carmen has summoned former officials from the previous municipal administration to appear in an ongoing administrative investigation into alleged misuse of public funds.
Through published edicts, the OIC’s Substanciating, Consultative and Legal Analysis Directorate called on former Municipal Public Services Secretary Felipe de Jesús Millán Parra and former Municipal Environment Secretary María Lourdes Várguez Ocampo to testify.
The agency also re-summoned former Mayor Lili Campos Miranda and former Treasurer Pedro Escobedo Vázquez, who had previously failed to appear at hearings scheduled for June 30. The new hearings are set for August 17 at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the New Municipal Palace.
The proceedings correspond to case files OIC/DSCAJ/PRA-047/2025 and OIC/DSCAJ/PRA-048/2025. Authorities resorted to publishing edicts to notify the former officials and guarantee their right to a hearing and defense.
So far, the case remains at the administrative level, and no criminal charges have been filed against the former officials. The investigation will determine whether administrative liability exists and what sanctions may apply under the law.
