Playa del Carmen, MX. – The Playa del Carmen Youth Symphony Orchestra will present a Benefit Concert this Monday, December 8 at the Teatro de la Ciudad, starting at 7:00 p.m., featuring students from various workshops at the Cultural Center.
“In the socio-cultural agenda of our municipal president Estefanía Mercado, an alliance was established with foundations like ‘Breath of Life Ministry,’ which has been in Playa del Carmen for over a decade helping vulnerable families, including single mothers. Therefore, we are requesting toy donations that will go to their children, and donors will gain access to this performance,” said Ernesto Santiago Martínez Cuéllar, general director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Arts.
The collection center will be the Teatro de la Ciudad, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interested individuals can call 984-554-61-77.

Acceptable Toy Donations
Some types of toys that can be donated include:
- Painting materials
- Bicycles
- Skates
- Interactive books
- Dolls
- Action figures
- Construction toys
In contrast, war toys, electronic toys requiring batteries, plastic balls, and stuffed animals are NOT on the donation list.
Concert Program
The orchestra’s musical program, directed by Professor Liliam Lima, includes “Libre Soy” (from the movie Frozen), “Let It Snow” by Dean Martin, the classic “Burrito Sabanero,” and “Navidad Jarocha,” among other performances.
Students from the Cultural Center’s workshops will have significant participation, including adult ballet, Mexican dance, Asian dances, flamenco, and youth jazz. (Source: Playa del Carmen City Council)
