Yucatán, Mexico — More than 200 million pesos worth of drugs have been seized from cartels in Yucatán during 2025, according to estimates from the Fiscalía General de la República (Attorney General’s Office).

To date, over 2.2 tons of narcotics have been confiscated in the state through operations conducted by state and federal forces.

According to estimates, the seized drugs would have a black market value of at least 200 million pesos.

Cocaine, marijuana, crack, methamphetamines, and fentanyl are the five drugs seized in the largest quantities.

The Campeche-Yucatán route is the most commonly used by traffickers on their way to Quintana Roo, as revealed in the seizures.

In Kanasín, distribution centers operate where narcotics are stored before continuing their journey to the neighboring state.

Just yesterday, the second largest seizure of the year was reported—a truck transporting half a ton of drugs with an estimated value of 69 million pesos.

According to authorities, the drugs originated from the state of Jalisco and were destined for Quintana Roo.

The narcotics belonged to the Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (Jalisco New Generation Cartel), one of the dominant criminal organizations not only in Yucatán but throughout the Yucatán Peninsula.

What is notable is that the seizure occurred at the Poxilá bridge in Umán, and the truck had managed to pass through Yucatán’s largest checkpoint at Halachó, where by law all cargo vehicles with out-of-state license plates should be inspected. However, the truck successfully evaded authorities.
