Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities have arrested nine people suspected of involvement in a series of vehicle and business fires across Quintana Roo, following the killing of a criminal group leader in Jalisco.
Governor Mara Lezama announced the arrests, detailing that officials recorded 15 vehicle fires and two business fires during the incidents.
The vehicle fires occurred in three locations in Cancún, seven in Playa del Carmen, and five in Tulum. The business fires took place in Cozumel and Tulum.
Speaking alongside members of the Security Council, Governor Lezama confirmed that no civilians were injured during the disturbances.
She urged residents to disregard false information circulating on social media. “We ask you to pay attention to official information, and if we have other important details, we will share them immediately,” Lezama stated.
The governor emphasized that order and stability have been maintained in Quintana Roo, with state airports, ADO bus services, the Maya Train, and public transportation operating normally.
Educational activities will also continue as scheduled, with no classes suspended on Monday.
