Cancún, Quintana Roo — In a context where transparency and ethics should govern public service, the case of Councilor Susana Dzib González, representative of the Labor Party (PT) in the Benito Juárez City Council, reveals a questionable use of her position for familial gain. The official has appointed her son, Christian Jesús Licona Dzib, as her legal advisor, with a monthly salary exceeding 50,000 pesos funded by the municipal treasury.

Beyond the controversy of having a direct relative on the public payroll, Dzib González is openly promoting her son as a candidate for civil and family court judge in an electoral process that should be free of conflicts of interest.

Institutional Resources Used for Personal Promotion

The young lawyer’s promotion is not confined to private or partisan circles. On social media, Susana Dzib showcases him as an active participant in the "Councilor in Your Neighborhood" program, where he engages in institutional activities and official events—blurring the line between public duties and personal campaigning.

The issue is not merely ethical but also political: the councilor is leveraging institutional resources and visibility to position her son for a role in the Judicial Branch.

Opportunistic Alliances and Additional Conflicts of Interest

The situation grows more complex. According to sources consulted, the councilor has also formed opportunistic alliances with various street vendor factions—referred to as "green" and "blue" groups—depending on what suits her aspirations. These actions, sources claim, occur with the tacit approval of Morena-affiliated Mayor Ana Paty Peralta.

Additionally, through her husband, Jesús Licona Aguirre, Dzib González has secured official advertising contracts for the platform Transformar Qroo, raising further concerns about conflicts of interest. This suggests the use of intermediaries to indirectly benefit from public funds allocated for government communications.

A Departure from Professionalism and Meritocracy

In summary, rather than upholding impartiality and institutional responsibility, the councilor has transformed her position into a personal and familial platform. This stands in stark contrast to the principles of professionalism, meritocracy, and public service that should define local governance.
