Mexico City — The efforts to guarantee free access to the beaches in Tulum are "very advanced," President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced this morning during the "Mañanera del Pueblo" press conference held at the National Palace.

When questioned on the matter, the federal leader stated that Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, the federal Secretary of Tourism, is working very closely with Governor Mara Lezama to address this public demand.

She specified that this is a complex issue being addressed with both the administrator of the Jaguar Park —Grupo Aeroportuario, Ferroviario, de Servicios Auxiliares y Conexos Olmeca-Maya-Mexica, S.A. de C.V. (GAFSACOMM)— and the hotels located along the coastline.

Sheinbaum reported that the Secretary of Tourism could very soon provide a final report on the agreements reached to guarantee free access to Tulum's beaches.

"The matter in Tulum is already very advanced. I believe Josefina can present on it very soon. Work is being done there with the governor. In any place, there must be free access to the beaches," she added.

She clarified that the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) is the entity "reviewing, negotiating, and talking, to allow for a space where there is public access."

It is worth mentioning that since mid-October, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora has made weekly visits to Tulum to hold dialogue tables with representatives from various economic sectors, such as tour operators, hoteliers, and administrative authorities of the Jaguar Park.

According to recent statements from the secretary, the objective of this work is to maintain the high influx of visitors that Tulum has experienced in recent years by guaranteeing free access to its beaches, the area's main tourist attraction.
