National Guard Member Dies in Traffic Accident in Cancún’s Hotel Zone

CANCÚN, QR. — A National Guard member died on Wednesday morning in Cancún’s Hotel Zone after losing control of his motorcycle on a curve of Kukulcán Boulevard at kilometer 28.

The accident occurred around 10:00 a.m. when the agent was traveling toward the tourist center after descending from Cancún International Airport.

According to initial reports, the uniformed officer skidded and was projected against the pavement, suffering a serious head injury.

Paramedics and Tourism Police officers arrived minutes later and confirmed that the National Guard member no longer showed vital signs.

Investigation into National Guard Member’s Death

At this time, the precise cause that led the National Guard member to lose control of the vehicle has not been determined.

The area was cordoned off by police authorities in both directions, which generated intense traffic congestion on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard. Traffic agents implemented an operation to divert motorists seeking to access the Hotel Zone.

Forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office processed the area and ordered the body’s transfer to the Forensic Medical Service, while investigations continue to clarify the accident that cost the National Guard member’s life.

This incident revived citizen concern about road safety in accesses to the tourist zone, where both visitors and operational personnel circulate daily, including members like this deceased National Guard member.
