TULUM, MX — The federal highway connecting Felipe Carrillo Puerto with Tulum was the scene of a tragedy on Sunday night after a female motorcyclist lost her life after being struck by a vehicle at the entrance to the city, in front of the Sumacasa establishment.

According to initial reports, the victim was traveling normally when she was hit by a vehicle whose driver, instead of assisting her, fled the site, leaving her lying on the pavement.

Minutes later, a black pickup truck traveling along the same stretch ended up colliding with the remains of the motorcycle.

Paramedics arrived at the scene of the incident but could only confirm the death of the motorcyclist, whose body was covered and guarded by authorities. The Attorney General's Office has initiated corresponding investigations to locate the responsible motorist, while vehicular traffic in the area was affected during the forensic investigations.
