Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist died Wednesday morning after skidding while riding on Avenida 125 at Calle 38 in this coastal city.
The accident mobilized emergency services and police officers. Initial reports indicate the crash occurred when the motorcycle operator apparently lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid and leaving the rider lying on the pavement with serious injuries.
Neighbors and passing motorists alerted emergency services after noticing the unconscious motorcyclist on the roadway. Paramedics arrived minutes later and attempted to provide first aid, but after assessing him, they confirmed he no longer had vital signs due to injuries sustained in the fall.
Municipal police officers cordoned off the area to prevent another incident and facilitate emergency operations. Traffic in the zone was partially affected while authorities conducted their work.
State Prosecutor’s Office personnel and criminal investigators later arrived to collect evidence and open an investigation file to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity. The body was transported to the Forensic Medical Service for the required autopsy.
Officials are considering whether excessive speed or distraction may have caused the motorcyclist to lose control and skid on the pavement, leading to the fatal outcome.
