Cancún, Mexico — Argentine national María Belén Zerda, who had been reported missing for over a week, was found alive on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard in Cancún, according to an announcement by the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
Disappearance and Search Efforts
Zerda was last seen on April 6 while socializing with others before suddenly running into a wooded area, leaving her companions unable to locate her. A formal missing person report was filed on April 10, prompting a large-scale search operation led by an interagency task force.
The search involved the FGE, Mexico’s National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), the National Guard, the Navy, as well as state and municipal police. Authorities focused their efforts on green zones near the Alfredo V. Bonfil ejido and areas surrounding Huayacán Avenue, Chac Mool Avenue, and Colosio Boulevard.
Discovery and Aftermath
Zerda was eventually located walking along Colosio Boulevard. After being found, she was transported to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Missing Persons, where she received medical attention and was reported to be in stable condition.
The Argentine Consulate was notified to facilitate her repatriation to Argentina.
