Merida City Council Cracks Down on Unregulated Food Trucks on Yucatan Avenue

The Sub-Directorate of Fixed, Semi-fixed and Street Vending Establishments of Merida City Council has responded to numerous citizen complaints by removing various food trucks from Yucatan Avenue in Jardines del Norte. These vendors had set up their businesses along the busy avenue, between 19 and 19-A Diagonal Streets, capitalizing on the heavy traffic. However, their presence caused significant disruption to local residents, who complained about the traffic issues resulting from these unauthorized businesses.

Merida's Mayor, Cecilia Patrón Laviada, has urged street vendors to conduct their business in designated areas where they will not inconvenience local residents and pedestrians. It is crucial that the sale of products on public roads is conducted in a regulated manner, adhering to the safety guidelines set by the Merida City Council. The removal of these food trucks will improve traffic flow on Yucatan Avenue, protecting the interests of the daily commuters who utilize this route.
