Paula Cortés, executive president of ANATO, speaks about Bacalar and other destinations at the ANATO 2026 tourism fair

Bogotá, Colombia — The Mexican Caribbean is returning to the international spotlight as the special guest of honor at ANATO 2026, Colombia’s most important tourism fair and one of Latin America’s premier business showcases.

The event begins on February 25 in Bogotá and will bring together thousands of tourism professionals to strengthen strategic alliances. It concludes on February 27.

The 45th edition of the Tourism Showcase, organized by the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies, will take place at Corferias.

ANATO executive president Paula Cortés Calle told Caracol Radio that this year’s event will feature more than 45 countries, 1,600 exhibiting companies, and expects over 56,000 attendees.

During the interview, Cortés noted that ANATO 2026 shows a 13% growth in exhibition space, reaching 45,000 square meters.

She highlighted that this showcase is the second most important tourism fair of its kind in the world and sets the standard for the sector in the region.

The Mexican Caribbean’s presence as special guest opens the door to strengthen bilateral relations between Mexico and Colombia in tourism matters.

Cortés explained that at the showcase “major tourism plans and packages are built that are later offered to the public,” and emphasized that the event focuses exclusively on business between professionals.

She also noted that the extensive international participation positions Colombia as a strategic point on the global tourism map.

On the morning of February 24, a pre-event breakfast highlighted the importance of Mexican Caribbean destinations in the sector.

In a social media post, Cortés stated: “To our international guest, thank you for being the Destination Guest of Honor. Mexico has a very large area at the fair. We greatly appreciate your participation.”
