Mexico City — The Mexican Attorney General's Office (FGR) has apprehended two individuals allegedly linked to a criminal organization purportedly led by Raúl Manuel Beyruti Sánchez, known as "The King of Outsourcing." The arrests mark a significant development in the ongoing investigation into financial crimes tied to Beyruti, who has been a fugitive for four years.
Arrests Made in Mexico City and Quintana Roo
Federal Ministerial Police officers executed arrest warrants in Mexico City and Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, detaining Carlos Gómez Dueñas and Roberto Melgar Aguilar, respectively. Both suspects were subsequently transferred to federal prisons, where they face charges of organized crime and money laundering.
The FGR stated that the defendants allegedly operated through shell companies to launder illicit funds and manipulate financial systems. "These individuals were part of a criminal network that used front companies to conceal the illegal origins of assets," the agency said in a release.
Judicial Proceedings and Detentions
Gómez Dueñas was arrested in Mexico City's Xochimilco borough and taken to the Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 17 in Michoacán. A judge ordered his pretrial detention and granted prosecutors three months for further investigation.
Melgar Aguilar was detained in Puerto Morelos and incarcerated in the Altiplano maximum-security prison in the State of Mexico. A separate judicial ruling mandated his pretrial detention and allotted two months and 15 days for additional inquiries.
Background on Raúl Beyruti's Legal Troubles
Beyruti, founder and president of GIN Group, remains at large despite a federal court revoking his legal protection last year. The FGR accuses him of leading an operation that laundered 4,335,705 pesos (approximately $260,000) through fraudulent financial activities.
Authorities noted that Beyruti failed to appear in court twice, prompting judicial warnings. His case continues to unfold as investigators pursue leads on his whereabouts.
