PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX. — With the lighting of the Christmas tree, the presentation of a cultural and artistic program, and before a massive crowd at Plaza 28 de Julio, Municipal President Estefanía Mercado today inaugurated “Magical Christmas 2025,” the traditional December festival that attracts thousands of families.
In an atmosphere filled with music, lights, and family spirit, the Mayor highlighted the importance of unity and hope during these holidays. “Christmas reminds us that the strength of a people lies in its families; may this light accompany your homes and your dreams,” she said.
She highlighted the participation, in this celebration, of more than 500 artists, princess shows, thematic shows, concerts, dance, and presentations of local talent, in addition to gastronomic areas and photographic spaces, as well as the opening of the ice rink starting December 12.
She also recalled that, as every year, Puerto Aventuras will have its own Christmas tree lighting.
To guarantee security, the Municipal President reported that a special 24/7 surveillance operation was deployed with the participation of the Secretariat of Citizen Security, in collaboration with federal and state forces.
Estefanía Mercado invited everyone not to miss the traditional Fifth Avenue Parade, one of the most anticipated events by residents and visitors, and announced that the municipality is preparing to offer a spectacular New Year’s Eve, with DJs and activities for all ages.
The amphitheater of Plaza 28 de Julio will host 81 musical, theatrical, and children’s shows.
From December 5 to 7, local families will be able to enjoy the Playa del Carmen Children’s and Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Typical Orchestra, the City Choir, and the Disney show. From the 11th to the 14th, it will be the turn of the winners of the “Smiles to the World” contest, the musical “Navigajas,” and the students of the IMCAP workshops.
From December 18 to 21, attendees at Plaza 28 de Julio will have great moments with the “Nutcracker Suites” by the “Coppelia” Ballet and the musical group “Sac-Bé,” while the weekend of December 26 to 28, the last month of the year, will feature the show by Yohanka “The Goddess of Cumbia,” “Sweet Duet,” and violinist Gio Macías, among others.
The event was attended by Eduardo Asencio, honorary president of the Municipal DIF; councilors; the Secretary General of the City Council, Luis Herrera; the Chief Administrative Officer, Guillermo Brahms; the Secretary of Citizen Security, Carlos Montesinos; the Municipal Trustee, José Agustín Aguilar; the Director of the Institute of Culture and Arts, Ernesto Martínez; and deputies María José Osorio and Tepi Gutiérrez, among other guests.
