Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man was shot multiple times on Tuesday afternoon after being intercepted by armed assailants on Chichen Itza Avenue in Cancun’s Supermanzana 62 neighborhood.

According to initial reports, the victim was driving in the area when armed individuals in a white Volkswagen Vento cut him off. Witnesses said the man had argued with his attackers moments earlier, and they had allegedly been following him.

Further down the road, one of the assailants got out of the vehicle and began chasing the man. Several gunshots were heard shortly after, leaving the victim on the asphalt with multiple gunshot wounds.

Red Cross paramedics arrived at the scene and stabilized the victim before transporting him to the General Hospital, where he remains under specialized medical care.

Municipal and state police officers cordoned off the area, after which agents from the State Prosecutor’s Office conducted the necessary investigative procedures.

Police launched an operation in Region 93, where the vehicle involved was reportedly seen, but so far it has not yielded results.
