José María Morelos, Quintana Roo — A 47-year-old man was shot dead inside his home in the Dolores neighborhood on Thursday afternoon, with neighbors reporting the suspect fled on a motorcycle.
Police identified the victim as Lázaro N. The shooting occurred on Plan de la Noria Street, between Miguel Hidalgo and Primavera streets.
Neighbors called emergency services after hearing at least five gunshots and seeing a man escape on a motorcycle. Police and transit officers arrived at the scene around 2 p.m. and found the victim lying inside the property.
Paramedics entered the home and confirmed the man had no vital signs. Officers cordoned off the area to preserve evidence and notified the State Prosecutor’s Office, which began an investigation and transported the body to the forensic medical service.
Residents told authorities they had noticed an unusual Volkswagen Jetta circling the area repeatedly in the week before the shooting. They said they were inside their homes when they heard the shots and, upon checking, only saw a motorcycle speeding away down Plan de la Noria Street. After realizing the homeowner was dead, they alerted authorities.
According to records, the same home was targeted in an attempted attack last year, with suspects also fleeing on motorcycles. Security officials said this homicide marks the first high-impact crime recorded in the city this year.
