Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man believed to be a resident of the Region 239 neighborhood was hospitalized after being attacked during an attempted robbery near the intersection of Avenida 20 de Noviembre and Prolongacion Tulum.
According to initial reports, the victim was walking on the street when he was intercepted by individuals on a motorcycle. The suspects allegedly tried to steal his belongings and money.
When the man resisted, a physical struggle ensued. The attackers beat him and then stabbed him with a sharp object, authorities said.
After being injured, the victim managed to take refuge in a taco shop, where employees called 911 for police and paramedics.
Officers and medical personnel arrived minutes later. The man was taken to a hospital for specialized care.
Police launched a search operation in the area but have not reported any arrests.
