A man was critically injured in a shooting incident in the community of Campesinos Unidos, situated north of Playa del Carmen. The victim was reportedly shot at least twice in the abdomen at his home. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m., prompting a response from the local Municipal Police.
The police faced challenges in reaching the scene due to the lack of electricity and poor cellular reception in the area. Despite these obstacles, a police convoy managed to reach the location and evacuate the injured man. He was immediately transported to the General Hospital and is currently in critical condition.
At the scene of the crime, officials from the State Attorney General's Office gathered evidence to aid their investigation. Preliminary reports indicate that the residence was hit by at least eight shots. The investigation is still ongoing as authorities work to establish the circumstances and motives behind the attack.
