Man Hospitalized After Bee Attack in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man was hospitalized Monday afternoon after suffering at least 70 bee stings in the Tumben Chilam neighborhood.

The attack occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hunab Ku Avenue and Balam Street, where a hive was located nearby.

Witnesses saw the man being attacked by a swarm of bees and called emergency services.

Civil protection personnel and firefighters arrived quickly and found the man was not allergic to bee venom. He was transported to the IMSS-Bienestar hospital, where his condition was reported as stable.

Firefighters cordoned off the area and brought the swarm under control. No other injuries were reported.
