Man tries to sell stolen motorcycle back to owner in Cancún

Police arresting suspect in Cancún Mall parking lot

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A man was detained at Cancún Mall after attempting to sell a stolen motorcycle to the vehicle’s legitimate owner, who “set him up.”

The incident occurred at 21:00 hours in region 228, in the parking lot of the aforementioned mall, directly in front of a white goods store.

Upon the arrival of Municipal Police, the young legitimate owner of the motorcycle informed authorities that his sports-type motorcycle had been stolen days earlier, and that today he had found it advertised on a social network. He then messaged the seller and arranged to meet him at the commercial plaza.

Upon arriving at the agreed point, he intercepted the subject along with other family members who accompanied him and requested support from authorities through the emergency number 911.

When officers asked the seller for documentation proving ownership of the vehicle, he was unable to present it, so he was detained and placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
