Breaking: Huge Forest Fire Blocks Mérida Highway

A significant forest fire erupted this afternoon on the shortcut highway leading to Mérida. The fire is located on the stretch of road that extends from the José María Morelos municipality to Chunhuhub, within the Felipe Carrillo Puerto municipality. The towering flames and thick smoke have resulted in poor visibility, bringing vehicle traffic to a standstill.

Firefighters from both municipalities were promptly dispatched to the scene. Their current focus is on controlling and extinguishing the blaze.

Local safety authorities are urging residents of Quintana Roo to exercise caution, particularly if they are near the area known as "the Devil's curves". Traffic in this area is moving at a reduced pace due to the fire.
