Luis Miguel has become the most streamed Mexican artist worldwide, with over 80% of the global population having downloaded his hits.
The streaming platform Spotify has revealed that the singer is the first Mexican artist to surpass the milestone of five billion downloads of his entire musical repertoire.
Through his social media, “El Sol” joined in celebrating this record by announcing it on his platforms.
To put this into context, the singer’s songs have been downloaded by more than 80% of the world’s population, which totals over 7.6 billion inhabitants.
Recently, the company S Money has revealed the world’s most valuable songs, and despite being an Australian company that might seem far removed from Mexico, a track by Luis Miguel appears in its ranking.
The research, titled “The Most Valuable Song from Every Country,” has highlighted the economic value of each song thanks to the Kworb platform, which focuses on Spotify numbers.
Currently, Luis Miguel is perhaps the most important Mexican artist, and this has been reflected in the study, where the song “Ahora te puedes marchar” boasts 299,811,047 plays on Spotify and has over 11 million monthly listeners.
Some studies estimate that his earnings exceed $1,364,335 as of February of this year.
