Mexico State, Mexico — A judicial proceeding stemming from the beating of a paddle tennis instructor in Atizapán de Zaragoza, Mexico State, took a dramatic turn on Monday when Alejandro Germán “N”, known as Lord Pádel, and his associate Othón “N” were released from custody after presenting a federal injunction (amparo). In contrast, his son, Germán “N”, and his wife, Karla Alejandra “N”, were formally charged and ordered to remain in preventive prison while the investigation against them proceeds.

According to the Mexico State Attorney General's Office (FGJEM), the four family members, along with several bodyguards and associates, are accused of participating in the July assault on instructor Israel Morales Hernández during a tournament. The incident, which was captured on video and widely circulated on social media, sparked a wave of public outrage.

Victim Details the Assault by Lord Pádel and His Family

The attack originated from an argument over a play, according to the victim’s account on social media. Morales stated that Lord Pádel's associate, identified as Othón Olvera, confronted him in an aggressive tone. Subsequently, several attendees crossed the court's net and began to beat him.

“They started to challenge me, and then it turned into a physical attack. They blocked me and threw me to the ground; I couldn't defend myself,” Morales recounted.

In his testimony, he added that some bodyguards also prevented his partner from intervening to help him. The circulated footage shows at least three guards actively participating in the beating while the victim was on the ground, which reinforced allegations of attempted qualified homicide against the aggressors.

Lord Pádel and Family Arrested at Cancún Airport After Returning from Germany

The implicated individuals were detained on August 14 at the Cancún International Airport upon returning from a trip to Germany. Although two of them presented copies of injunctions, the Mexico State Attorney General's Office stated it had not received formal notification of these legal appeals, leading to the arrest of all individuals, who were then placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.

Following the incident, the family had abandoned their residence in Atizapán. Once back in Mexico, they were brought before Judge Paulina Piña, who presided over Monday's hearing.

First Hearing in Lord Pádel Case Lasts Over Eleven Hours

The hearing was held behind closed doors at the request of the defense, which sought privacy due to the media pressure surrounding the case. The session lasted over eleven hours.

During the presentation of arguments, it was reported that Lord Pádel and his associate would be released after it was confirmed they had filed a federal injunction. In contrast, Karla Alejandra “N” and Germán “N” will remain incarcerated in the Barrientos Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center, as they did not have such a legal recourse.

Reports: Lord Pádel's Son Broke Down in Tears Upon Learning He Would Remain in Prison

According to reports from Milenio, Germán “N” broke down in tears upon hearing that his father and the associate would be freed, while he and his mother would continue in preventive prison.

At the conclusion of the hearing, the judge formally charged all four accused with the crime of attempted qualified homicide. However, the precautionary measure of preventive prison was applied only to Karla Alejandra “N” and Germán “N”.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Germán “N” and Othón “N” will face the proceedings in freedom thanks to the injunction filed previously, which, according to the law, could not be extended to the other two accused.

The investigation by the Mexico State Attorney General's Office will continue to determine the responsibility of each of the implicated parties, including the bodyguards and associates visible in the videos of the assault.
