PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX. — The Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, led the inauguration of the new ISSSTE Family Medicine Unit in Playa del Carmen this morning, during a link-up with the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, held in the People’s Morning Press Conference.
Through a national link-up with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo during the morning press conference, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and the Director General of ISSSTE, Martí Batres, inaugurated the new Family Medicine Unit in Playa del Carmen.
During the event, the state leader thanked the support of the Government of Mexico and the Director General of ISSSTE, Martí Batres, for fulfilling a historical demand of the residents of Playa del Carmen, which had been pending for 26 years.
Lezama highlighted that this unit represents a significant advance in access to health services for the beneficiary families of the municipality, while strengthening and expanding medical infrastructure in Quintana Roo.
“In Quintana Roo we are very grateful for the support the state has received in health matters; for decades that area was abandoned, now there is an authentic transformation,” expressed the Governor, emphasizing that the second floor of the Fourth Transformation is a reality.
Martí Batres reported that the new Family Medicine Unit will serve 14,000 beneficiaries and replaces a Family Care Center (CAF), strengthening the resolutive capacity of ISSSTE medical services in the region.
With an investment of over 14 million pesos, the Unit is inaugurated with a pharmacy at 100% capacity, with 188 medication codes, and is ready to immediately serve the beneficiaries, explained the Director General of ISSSTE.
The unit has two family medicine consultation rooms, a dental consultation room, a treatment room, pharmacy, clinical file archive area, storage, waiting room, and parking.
The new Family Medicine Unit begins operations today, offering medical care to ISSSTE beneficiaries, as part of the strategy to improve health service coverage and quality in the state.
This new Medical Unit is located on Avenida Petempich between Calle Caoba and Calle Ceiba in the Villamar II subdivision.
