Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — More than 20,000 visitors entered Isla Mujeres daily over the weekend, according to workers at the Rueda Medina Avenue maritime terminal, marking the start of the 2026 summer vacation season.
The main streets of the Pueblo Magico began to see a growing number of tourists interested in visiting beaches, restaurants, markets, craft shops, and services such as boat tours and golf cart rentals.
The reported figure only accounts for passengers counted at the maritime terminal and does not include those arriving from Puerto Juarez or visitors transported by catamaran.
The increase in tourists also began to reflect in hotel occupancy, which rose from 51% to 64%, according to the Directorate of Economic Development and Tourism.
Authorities and service providers expect visitor numbers and occupancy to continue rising gradually as the vacation period progresses.
