Isla Mujeres, Mexico — With the firm purpose of continuing to recover public spaces that provide well-being, security, and coexistence for island families, the Municipal President of Isla Mujeres, Atenea Gómez Ricalde, gave the starting signal for the rehabilitation works of Iguana Park.
During the official launch, the mayor reaffirmed her commitment to continue transforming the places that belong to island families.
“This park will be a place full of life for girls, boys, youth, and adults. Here we will write new stories, and we will do it together, as the great family that we are in Isla Mujeres,” stated the island mayor.
Atenea Gómez highlighted that this space is the 16th park built during her administration.
She explained that these projects have been possible thanks to the responsible and honest management of public resources, which allows the people’s money to return to the people in the form of works that truly transform.
Iguana Park will be rehabilitated and equipped to become a dignified, safe, and accessible space. The project includes recreational areas, coexistence zones, and infrastructure renewal, with the aim of offering an adequate place for recreation and healthy coexistence.
The work includes the construction of a 16-meter zip line, a skatepark, and a triple basketball court, installation of exercise equipment, rehabilitation of the jogging track, bathrooms, and main palapa, as well as the placement of public lighting, synthetic grass, and urban furniture.
During the event, authorities who supported this important start of the work were present: the Secretary of Health of Quintana Roo, Carlos Flavio Rosado; the General Director of Urban Development, Public Works, and Planning, William Conrado Alarcón; the General Coordinator of Public Works, Ángel Azueta Hernández; and the Municipal Trustee, José Inés Aguilar Rodríguez.
With the start of this work, the Municipal Government of Isla Mujeres reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting projects that promote well-being, social fabric, and the construction of a more dignified and prosperous municipality for all.
