TULUM — The death of a two-month-old baby has caused consternation among residents of the Cristal neighborhood after the infant was found without vital signs inside her family home.
According to initial reports, the parents discovered the situation upon waking and noticing their daughter was unresponsive. They also observed traces of blood on her nose and immediately called emergency services.
Paramedics responded to the residence on 2 North Street. Upon assessing the minor, they confirmed she no longer had vital signs.
Following the report, officers from the Quintana Roo Public Security Secretariat arrived at the site. They cordoned off the area while ministerial authorities were notified to begin the corresponding procedures.
Subsequently, personnel from the State Attorney General's Office carried out the removal of the body and its transfer to the Forensic Medical Service. There, the necessary studies will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Preliminary information suggests the death may be related to a possible case of aspiration pneumonia. However, authorities indicated that an investigation has been opened to clarify what happened.
As part of the process, it will be investigated whether the minor had any prior condition that required medical attention or if the death occurred due to natural causes.
The case has generated concern among residents of the neighborhood, while authorities continue their investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the death.
