Residents of Puerto Aventuras have reported an ongoing land invasion in the areas known as the Ebenezer neighborhood and Las Torres. In response to these reports, Luis Herrera Quiam, the General Secretary of the Solidaridad City Council, met with the concerned residents.
Quiam assured the residents that the council will investigate the alleged illegal activities. He emphasized that all legal procedures will be followed and the safety of any minors in the area will be prioritized. Quiam acknowledged that there are several legal disputes concerning various plots of land, but he pledged to address these issues during his tenure.
In a separate but related incident, a property in the Nicte Ha neighborhood of Playa del Carmen was returned to its rightful owner. This action was taken in accordance with a court order, and was supported by Citizen Security. No incidents were reported during the operation.
Quiam noted that only a few people with belongings were present before the machinery arrived to demolish the illegally constructed houses in the area.
