There has been a recent surge in crocodile sightings in urban regions, particularly around the Jurassic Trail and the occupied lands of Chicxulub Puerto. This has led to heightened vigilance among residents due to the potential risk of an attack.
Similar incidents have been reported in the port of San Crisanto, part of the Sinanché municipality. Here, inhabitants of the Central and Western districts have noticed these reptiles in close proximity to their homes. This is attributed to rising water levels in areas that were formerly salt ponds.
A recent example includes the discovery of a crocodile under a vehicle and another specimen swimming in the Draguita area. With the pond situated just a few meters from residential backyards, locals prefer to maintain a safe distance to avoid potential attacks.
Residents have noted that as the estuary water levels increase, crocodiles tend to move closer to human-populated areas. This has resulted in several crocodiles being spotted near their homes.
