Homún, Yucatán — The Yucatán town of Homún has become a top destination for travelers seeking natural swimming holes during the 2026 Easter holiday season, thanks to its abundance of cenotes—natural sinkholes with crystal-clear waters.

Located in the heart of the Yucatán Peninsula, Homún forms part of the so-called Ring of Cenotes, a privileged area with dozens of these geological formations surrounded by low jungle. The town sits just over an hour from Mérida, the state capital.

During the vacation period, local, national, and international visitors flock to Homún to swim, explore caves, and enjoy underground landscapes. Among the most popular cenotes are Santa Rosa, known for its impressive stalactites and wide natural vault; Hool Kosom, ideal for those seeking deep, clear waters; and Tza Ujun Kat, a site surrounded by vegetation where tranquility enhances the experience.

How to Get to Homún

Travelers can reach Homún by private car, shared vans, or taxis. Taxis depart from Calle 52 between 65 and 67 in central Mérida, with fares starting at 30 pesos. Service runs from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and the journey takes approximately one hour.

For those driving, the route follows the highway toward Cancún until reaching Homún.
