Holbox representatives presenting Mundo Sagrado campaign at Fitur 2026

Madrid, Spain — During the 46th edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), held in Madrid and considered one of the most relevant tourism showcases worldwide, Holbox island had a prominent participation by officially presenting the “Mundo Sagrado” community tourism campaign.

The initiative was announced by the Holbox Hotel Association, with the goal of promoting a sustainable, inclusive tourism development model with direct benefits for local communities in the Mexican Caribbean.

A Biocultural Corridor Connecting Tulum with Holbox

During the presentation, Christian Stenta, president of the Holbox Hotel Association, explained the ecological, cultural and natural richness that integrates a biocultural corridor linking ancestral heritage from Tulum to Holbox.

Nature, Culture and Mayan Communities

This corridor brings together jungles, mangroves, cenotes, protected natural areas and Mayan communities, consolidating itself as a proposal that seeks to preserve natural heritage and strengthen regional identity.

“This corridor consolidates itself as a proposal that seeks to preserve natural heritage and strengthen the identity of local communities, through responsible tourism experiences that generate direct benefits for the population,” emphasized Stenta.

“Mundo Sagrado”: Responsible Tourism Beyond Sun and Beach

The “Mundo Sagrado” campaign highlights the spiritual and cultural connection of the territory, as well as the active role of communities in ecosystem conservation and tourism offerings.

Representatives of the Hotel Association highlighted that this strategy allows diversifying tourism offerings, moving beyond the traditional sun and beach model, and promoting conscious tourism aligned with principles of environmental sustainability, cultural respect and social benefit.

Holbox Reinforces Its International Projection

With its participation in Fitur, Holbox reaffirms its international positioning as a destination committed to conservation and community tourism, while strengthening alliances with tourism operators, specialized media and European markets interested in authentic and responsible experiences.
