Hit-and-Run Driver Flees After Striking Pedestrian in Cancún Neighborhood

Yellow crime scene tape that reads "ESCENA DEL CRIMEN" and "NO PASAR"

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A hit-and-run driver struck a pedestrian Monday night in Cancún’s Tres Reyes neighborhood and fled the scene, leaving the injured man hospitalized in unknown condition.

The incident occurred when the man attempted to cross a main road in the irregular settlement. Witnesses reported seeing the collision but could not identify the vehicle or its license plate due to poor lighting in the area.

Emergency services responded to a 911 call, dispatching medical personnel and security officials to the urban zone in Benito Juárez municipality.

“The driver left without helping the injured person,” one resident said, describing how neighbors tried to locate the victim’s family after Red Cross paramedics transported him to Jesús Kumate Rodríguez General Hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not identified the pedestrian, who remains listed as unknown. Police and community members continue efforts to locate his relatives for identification and to determine his medical status.
