“Attention Cancun High Schoolers: Apply Now for School Placement!”

High school students in Cancun who have not yet been assigned a school or wish to change schools can now apply for placement. There are currently plenty of spaces available for students who wish to continue their education.

The application period began on Monday and runs until August 9. This opportunity is especially relevant for the roughly 1,520 students in the Benito Juárez municipality who need to secure or change their school placement.

Miguel Medina Cortázar, Undersecretary of Education in the northern zone of the Secretariat of Education of Quintana Roo, explained that the current focus is on students entering a second reassignment of spaces. These students did not meet the required score for the first stage of placement, which involves a placement exam.

In addition to students seeking reassignment, the process also caters to those who are dissatisfied with their current school assignment or who wish to explore other higher secondary education alternatives. This includes students who have moved from another state and were unable to take the placement test.

The reassignment process, part of the Assignment Process for Spaces to Higher Secondary Education (PAEEMS), can be completed by students themselves or by their parents or guardians. The dates for this process vary by municipality.

According to the SEQ Facebook page, the schedule is as follows: August 5 to 9 for Othón P. Blanco, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and Cozumel; August 6 to 9 for Solidaridad; August 7 to 9 for Benito Juárez. Tulum will only have the process on August 5.

Cortázar assures that there are still spaces available for students wishing to continue their high school studies in the public sector. The goal is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to continue their education.
