Cancún. The H3N2 flu variant, which is currently experiencing a major outbreak in Europe, has not yet affected tourism in Quintana Roo. Neither hotel associations nor Cancún International Airport have reported cancellations due to this reason.
Miriam Cortés, president of the Quintana Roo Vacation Clubs Association (ACLUVAQ), stated she is unaware of any reports of cancellations from Europe because of this flu so far.
“If there were a problem, I would already know about it,” she responded.
Similarly, Southeast Airports (ASUR) have not had any flights canceled from the United Kingdom or other parts of Europe up to this point. For now, they are only awaiting some communication from the health authority.
According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), the outbreak of this flu started three to six weeks earlier compared to previous seasons. It has already set a record driven by the K variant of influenza A, with an early and accelerated spread, particularly in the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France, and Italy.
On the other side of the world, there is already talk of school and hospital closures, leading to the reintroduction of mask usage.
