Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Gunmen shot and killed a man in the In House neighborhood of Playa del Carmen on Saturday afternoon, after chasing and intercepting him as he left a house.
The violent incident occurred at the intersection of Bahía de San Blas Street and Lilis Avenue. According to preliminary reports, the victim was attempting to exit a residence through a hallway when he was confronted by the attackers.
Police reports indicate the assailants pursued the victim for a distance before catching up to him and firing at least three shots with a firearm whose caliber has not yet been disclosed.
After carrying out the execution, the gunmen managed to escape through the streets of the area.
Neighbors reported the incident to emergency number 911, and operators dispatched an ambulance to the scene. However, paramedics who arrived confirmed the man showed no signs of life.
Authorities cordoned off the area to allow forensic services to work and for the body to be removed. The victim has not yet been identified by officials.
