Cancun, Quintana Roo — The case of two girls allegedly harassed by a neighbor escalated over the weekend when their guardian reported that she and her family were threatened and intimidated at their home. She also accused the Municipal Police of failing to respond despite her calls to the 911 emergency number.
According to the woman’s account, a relative of the previously reported neighbor came to her house. During the altercation, she said, she was insulted and the visitors shook the property’s gate. The complainant stated that one of the companions issued a death threat against her son, forcing the young man to temporarily leave the home to avoid a confrontation.
“I feel so frustrated because I can’t protect my family,” the woman said, adding that she felt abandoned despite seeking help from various agencies. She said she made two calls to 911 requesting police assistance, but no patrol car arrived while the incident was occurring. She also said she sent messages asking for intervention from municipal authorities but received no immediate response.
The complainant said a recording captured the threats against her son, which could become part of the authorities’ investigation.
As a follow-up to the case of alleged sexual abuse against the same girls, attributed to a direct relative, she reported that she was referred to the Municipal Women’s Institute, where she met with a lawyer for legal guidance and support in the ongoing proceedings related to the alleged harassment and the latest events.
She reiterated that her main concern is the safety of the girls and called for stronger protective measures and a timely investigation into both the initial allegations and the threats she says she received. As of press time, the Public Security authorities had not reported any intervention related to the incident.
