Madrid, Spain — During the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2026 at IFEMA, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa held a working meeting with executives from World2Meet, a tourism group that includes World2Fly, Iberostar, and its transportation division, consolidating a key alliance for the promotion and strengthening of the Mexican Caribbean.
During the meeting, the governor emphasized that World2Meet is one of the main commercial partners of the destination, moving more than one million tourists per year to Quintana Roo, a figure that—she said—will continue growing in a strategic context such as the 2026 Soccer World Cup.
“We are here to continue strengthening ties, grow together, and continue working hand in hand on fundamental issues such as sustainability, environmental responsibility, and shared prosperity,” stated Mara Lezama, highlighting that this will be a great year for Mexican Caribbean tourism.
The governor also recognized the group’s good practices, particularly in sustainable mobility, by having electric vehicles in their transportation operations, as well as promoting women’s empowerment, noting that most drivers are women and that the transportation company is headed by a woman, which she described as a positive example for the sector.
For their part, World2Meet executives reaffirmed their long-term commitment to Quintana Roo, stating that the Mexican Caribbean remains at the center of their global strategy, thanks to the quality of the destination and constant investments to improve visitor experience. “We will continue betting on this destination because it is one of the best we can offer our customers,” they stated.
