Tulum, Quintana Roo — A surveillance deployment conducted as part of the Blindaje Tulum strategy resulted in the capture of five people accused of alleged involvement in drug dealing activities in the municipality. The intervention was executed by elements of the Tulum Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection, with support from agents of the State Attorney General’s Office.
The detained individuals were identified as Paulino Alejandro “N”, alias “Payul”; Luis Roberto “N”, alias “Bonachón”; Neric “N”; Luis Bernardo “N”, known as “Papu”; and Mitzi Marlen “N”, alias “Moni”. The arrests occurred during preventive patrols, when operational personnel detected suspicious behavior and proceeded to conduct corresponding inspections.
In the operation, authorities seized 159 packages of dry herb with characteristics similar to marijuana and 30 packages of white powder that, according to preliminary inspection, would correspond to cocaine. In total, more than 180 doses were placed under the custody of authorities as evidence of the alleged crime against public health.
Both the secured substances and the five individuals were transferred to the facilities of the State Attorney General’s Office, the agency that will continue the legal process and determine the legal status of the detainees.
Security corporations indicated that these actions respond to citizen reports and are part of permanent operations to inhibit drug distribution in urban areas and growing neighborhoods. They also reiterated that police presence will be maintained to reduce factors that generate violence and protect the local population and visitors.
Investigations continue to establish whether the detainees are linked to other drug dealing cases recently registered in the municipality.
