Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Firefighters responded to a restaurant in the Centro neighborhood after a fire broke out in one of the kitchen grills. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. yesterday in the kitchen of the ’12 BEES’ hotel, located on Calle 12 Bis, between Avenidas 30 and 35.
According to information obtained at the scene, a cook was using the fryer when the kitchen suddenly began to fill with smoke. It was confirmed that there was a fire in the chimney.
With the help of other employees, they extinguished the flames, which apparently resulted from an accumulation of grease in the kitchen chimney. Upon arrival, firefighters proceeded to conduct an inspection and finish extinguishing any embers or heat sources that could reignite the flames.
In the end, it was only a minor fire in the kitchen area, resulting solely in material damage. This marks the third case in a week attended by firefighters and Civil Protection personnel.
