Puerto Aventuras — Several days after the accident that claimed the life of Diego Aldo Gibran Rodríguez Villaseñor, 25, his family has reported that they remain completely defenseless and without support from authorities, while the company associated with the construction project attempts to avoid any legal obligation, despite the young man dying while performing assigned work on the property.
The worker, originally from Guanajuato, lost his life on January 20, 2026 after being run over by heavy machinery during cleaning and land preparation work in an area near Puerto Aventuras, where the construction of commercial spaces alongside a supermarket is planned.
Initial investigations indicated that the laborer did not have the necessary protective equipment when he was struck by a dredger, whose operator allegedly ignored safety protocols. The young man became trapped in the unit’s mechanism and, although he was transported alive to a hospital, died hours later due to his injuries.
The project is related to the companies TG Ingeniería y Construcciones and Tulum Cimentaciones, S.A. de C.V.; however, family members claim that, following the death, no compensation or funeral expenses have been covered, forcing them to go into debt to bury him. The young man’s mother reported that her son was the main economic provider for the household.
The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office maintains an open investigation file for the case and secured the machinery involved, although the bereaved claim they have not received clear information about the progress of the process. Given this situation, they demanded the intervention of state and labor authorities to clarify the facts, verify the conditions at the worksite, and ensure that corresponding responsibilities are assumed.
