Playa del Carmen, QR. — Three weeks after the disappearance of chef Héctor Ignacio Andrade Lezama, his family has publicly denounced the lack of access to surveillance cameras located along Federal Highway 307, where he was last seen walking between Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
The complaint was made by Bertha Lezama, mother of chef Héctor Ignacio Andrade Lezama, during an interview granted to a television news program from the state of Veracruz. In it, she requested the direct intervention of state and federal authorities to release access to recordings that could provide key information about his whereabouts.
According to the family’s testimony, chef Héctor Ignacio Andrade Lezama, 35 years old and originally from Veracruz, was last seen around 6:30 p.m. on December 3, when he was allegedly walking along the federal roadway. There has been no contact with him since that moment.
The mother indicated that, despite several people observing him along the route, they have not been allowed to review the surveillance footage, under the argument that the National Guard does not have access to those cameras.
Before his disappearance, chef Héctor Ignacio Andrade Lezama had settled in Tulum, where he worked as an executive chef and maintained an active career in the gastronomic field. Last November, he gave a keynote lecture to students at the Technological University of Tulum, which, according to his family, confirms he maintained a stable professional life.
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo issued his missing person bulletin on December 7, although family members maintain the disappearance occurred on the 3rd of the same month. No substantial progress has been reported so far. The agency maintains an active search and urges citizens to provide any information that helps locate chef Héctor Ignacio Andrade Lezama through official channels.
