Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Supporters of Mexico’s ruling Morena party collected more than 2,500 donated items and 50,000 pesos for medicine over three days at a collection center opened here to aid Cuba.
The center, located on Avenida 30 with 1 Sur, opened in response to a national campaign launched by Morena to assist Cuba during its current humanitarian crisis, which began with U.S. oil restrictions. Other collection points in Quintana Roo were established in Cancún, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and Chetumal.
Juan Uribe, the first councilor of Puerto Aventuras, expressed happiness with the positive results achieved in just three days. “It fills us with joy to see such a good response,” he said. “Even residents of Playa del Carmen wrote dedications with messages of encouragement on products they know will reach Cuban families.”
For the Morena supporter, this demonstrates that they are bringing not only aid but also hope.
