Dolphin Discovery Founder Eduardo Albor Blocks New Arrest Warrants from Nuevo León

Eduardo Albor, former Dolphin Discovery executive, in a legal dispute

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Eduardo Albor Villanueva, the former Dolphin Discovery executive detained in Cancún earlier this month, has obtained an injunction blocking two new arrest warrants issued against him by authorities in Nuevo León.

The warrants stem from investigation files CI FED/NL/ESC0002450/2025 and CJ 008/1539/2025 from the Nuevo León Prosecutor’s Office, according to court documents from the Second District Court for Criminal Matters in that state.

Albor filed the injunction on February 18 against the active arrest warrants, which included requests for preventive detention, forced disappearance, and failure to provide medical care and medication. While the legal maneuver has prevented additional detentions, Albor remains incarcerated in Mexico City.

The businessman is embroiled in a criminal proceeding for alleged procedural fraud related to legal disputes with his former Dolphin Discovery partners. These legal processes originated in Mexico City, with new cases now emerging in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

Controladora Dolphin, the parent company of Dolphin Discovery, relocated its headquarters from Cancún to Monterrey in 2025, coinciding with the new arrest warrants issued by Nuevo León authorities.

The company announced recently that Albor ceased to be part of the administration, operations, and management of the company in March 2025, when his employment relationship ended. Since then, a new management team has been appointed, consisting of Independent Director Steven Strom from Odinbrook Global Advisors and Robert Wagstaff, Restructuring Director from Riveron Management Services, who continue to oversee the company during its financial restructuring process.

The most recent judicial report from February 19 indicates Albor is being held at the Preventive Men’s Prison North in Mexico City, though his exact legal status remains unclear.

“He is interned at the Preventive Men’s Prison North of Mexico City. An attentive electronic request is sent to the District Judge for Criminal Matters in Mexico City to notify the complainant,” reads the judicial agreement from February 19.

Albor has accused his former partners of secretly abandoning Dolphin Discovery’s bankruptcy proceedings in 2025 while he was still part of the conglomerate, leading him to file lawsuits against them. However, according to court documents, his partners responded with a criminal complaint alleging Albor falsified information before the judge.
