Emergency response at cyclist accident scene in Tulum

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A cyclist was injured after being run over on the streets of Tulum. The incident occurred early in the morning when the victim was riding his bicycle to work and was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

Around 5 a.m. yesterday, a good Samaritan passing by the scene noticed the injured man and called emergency number 911 to request medical assistance at the intersection of Kukulcán Avenue and Juan Ek Street, near the irregular settlement ‘2 de Octubre’.

Emergency services were quickly activated, with Red Cross paramedics mobilizing to the scene to examine the cyclist, who was found to have fractures of the tibia and fibula. Due to his condition, he was transported as a patient to the ‘HospiGen’ hospital in ‘Playa del Crimen’.

Prior to being transported, the injured man stated that a black truck had struck him, but the alleged responsible party chose to flee the scene. Authorities urged him to file a formal complaint about the incident.
